James R. Schultz
Managing Partner

Jim has spent his entire professional career at Maynard, O’Connor, Smith & Catalinotto, where he is managing partner. He leads the firm’s real property practice handling matters relating to acquisition and sale, residential and commercial lending, land use planning, real estate litigation, and title insurance claims. He also manages the firm’s commercial, business, and trusts and estates areas of practice, overseeing a team of qualified attorneys and paralegals who provide our clients with a full range of legal services.

Edwin J. Tobin, Jr.

A practicing attorney for more than 30 years, Ed successfully litigates multi-million dollar cases for doctors and hospitals, defending claims of medical malpractice. He also represents municipalities and school districts on civil rights and zoning claims and claims of general municipal negligence. Ed was designated a “2021 top rated lawyer” by Martindale Hubbell.

An indefatigable litigator, Michael has been with the firm since 1992 and became a partner in 2001. Although he works out of our Saugerties office, he serves clients throughout much of the State of New York, primarily north of New York City. In addition to his 23 years of litigation experience handling the defense of medical malpractice and personal injury actions, Michael has extensive trial experience in the areas of municipal law, civil rights law, products liability, commercial law, general liability in both state and federal courts and litigation involving Native American tribes and sovereignty recognition.

Robert Rausch
Partner

Rob joined Maynard, O’Connor, Smith, & Catalinotto in 1997 and was named a partner in 2004. Prior to joining the firm, he served as Law Clerk to Hon. Irad S. Ingraham, New York State Supreme Court Justice for Chenango and Otsego Counties. Through that experience, he gained extensive exposure to trial practice and the intricacies of New York State civil practice rules and regulations.

Since joining the firm in 2007, Alexander has concentrated his practice in the areas of medical malpractice defense, general liability defense, and tort litigation. He is admitted to practice in the State of New York and the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York.

Since joining Maynard O’Connor in 2010, Justin has concentrated his practice in the areas of real property litigation and transactions, title defense litigation, commercial litigation and transactions, general civil litigation, appeals, residential and commercial lending, business law and transactions, health care law and bankruptcy (creditor’s rights). He is admitted to practice in the State of New York; the State of New Jersey; the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Southern and Western Districts of New York, and New Jersey; and the U.S. Bankruptcy Courts for the Northern and Southern District of New York, and New Jersey.

Karen A. Butler

Karen A. Butler, R.N., BSN, J.D., combines more than twenty years’ experience as a critical care nurse with her skills as a practicing attorney. Her areas of practice include medical malpractice defense, professional misconduct, health law and civil rights litigation. Karen is admitted to practice law in all the courts of the State of New York, in both the Northern and Southern Districts of New York and in the United States Supreme Court.

Kelly M. Monroe

Kelly has been a trial attorney for over 13 years, defending hospitals and medical professionals against medical negligence claims, as well as defending medical professionals in matters before the New York State Justice Center, New York State Office of Professional Medical Conduct (OPMC) and the New York State Education Department. His practice areas also include general liability defense, personal injury, premises liability, and defending petroleum suppliers in New York State Navigation Law claims.

Lia joined Maynard, O’Connor, Smith & Catalinotto in 2016. She concentrates her practice in the areas of medical malpractice defense, professional liability, personal injury, and general litigation. Lia is admitted to practice in the State of New York, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York, and California (presently inactive). She is a member of the New York State Bar Association, Albany County Bar Association, and Capital District Women’s Bar Association.

Bridget joined the firm in 2016. She concentrates her practice in the areas of real estate litigation; commercial litigation; title insurance claims; property disputes; business formation; contract drafting and negotiation, including lease agreements; residential and commercial real estate acquisition and sale; landlord/tenant; general liability; appeals; trusts and estates. She is admitted to practice in the State of New York.

Kelly joined the firm in 2019. She concentrates her practice in the areas of personal injury, motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, general litigation and medical malpractice defense. Kelly is admitted to practice in the State of New York and is a member of the New York State Bar Association.

Mariah W. Dolce

Mariah joined Maynard, O’Connor, Smith & Catalinotto as an associate in 2023. She concentrates her practice in the areas of personal injury, medical malpractice and labor and employment. She is admitted to practice in the State of New York and the State of New Jersey.

Concetta R. Lomanto
Of Counsel

Concetta handles complex personal injury litigation representing individuals and families who have been injured as a result of an accident, including car and construction site accidents; unsafe premises; defective products; dog bites; and wrongful death matters. She has been with the firm since 1986 and became a partner in 1993.

Thomas G. Daley
Of Counsel

Since joining the firm in 1981 and becoming a partner in 1986, Tom has become one of our top litigators. His experience in defense litigation includes cases involving catastrophic injury, product liability, municipal law, and property damage. Tom also handles estate litigation, professional liability law, and business/commercial litigation.

Bruce A. Bell
Retired

Bruce has served as a trial attorney with the firm for more than 30 years, successfully defending hospitals and doctors in medical malpractice claims and representing plaintiffs in employment discrimination matters and personal injury cases. His practice areas also include employment and municipal law, products liability, and general litigation, with extensive working knowledge of the various levels of state and federal laws that govern employment claims, particularly those involving discrimination and sexual harassment.
