Jim has spent his entire professional career at Maynard, O'Connor, Smith & Catalinotto, where he is managing partner. He leads the firm's real property practice handling matters relating to acquisition and sale, residential and commercial lending, land use planning, real estate litigation, and title insurance claims. He also manages the firm's commercial, business, and trusts and estates areas of practice, overseeing a team of qualified attorneys and paralegals who provide our clients with a full range of legal services.
Jim is admitted to practice in the State of New York and the United States District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of New York. He is a member of the Albany County and New York State Bar Associations, and is a member of the Trusts & Estates and Real Property & Business Law sections of the state bar. Jim is also a frequent lecturer in the areas of real property and trusts and estates law.
A graduate of Siena College, Jim earned his law degree from Western New England College School of Law.
A strong believer that the responsibility of a lawyer extends beyond the office walls to the community and public arenas, Jim has actively served on numerous civic and charitable organizations and committees throughout his career. These include the former Rotterdam Boys Club, Big Brothers-Big Sisters of Schenectady County, and the Center for the Disabled. He was an Assistant Town Attorney for the Town of Guilderland for seven years and also chaired the town's Ethics Commission. Jim has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Guilderland Chamber of Commerce for most of the past 15 years, and served as its president from 1996 to 1998. He also serves as a board member and current president of Pinehaven Country Club.
